The silicate raw materials segment showcases the full, fascinating range of diverse and profitable applications for Dorfner fillers—from the classics—paper, glass, and ceramics—to building materials and construction chemicals. Discover the variety.
Since 1895, the family-owned company Dorfner has been mining kaolin, also known as porcelain clay. High-quality industrial minerals are used in industries such as paper, glass, and ceramics, and are even used in vaccine vials.
Advantages of our raw materials:
Our raw materials, sourced from our own deposits in Hirschau, are purified using modern processes, which guarantee the best results and a quality that is recognized worldwide.
Dorfner kaolins are recognized throughout the paper industry as high-quality fillers and outstanding coating kaolins. They are used in a wide variety of paper grades in the premium quality segment.
Dorfner products for the paper industry are always the first choice when paper must meet particularly high quality standards and specific technical requirements—including printability, the desired print image, and its feel.
For more than 50 years, Dorfner has been offering the glass industry a complete product range of high-quality glass sands. The consistently high quality of Dorfner products gives the glass industry the confidence to reliably control its melting processes in the furnace. Whether it’s flat glass, crystal glass, or borosilicate glass, the narrow particle size distribution of Dorfner’s solutions allows for use in virtually all standard melting furnaces. This reliability extends to medical applications as well.
From sanitaryware to wall and floor tiles, high-quality porcelain, and sophisticated technical ceramics: the range of applications for Dorfner industrial minerals in the ceramics industry is enormous. The high purity and customizable particle size of our products guarantee low production costs and compliance with the highest production standards. Our ground ceramic kaolins, for example, are processed using a complex, multi-stage hydrocyclone classification process. Due to their high kaolinite content, they produce a pure white fired color.
Dorfner in Construction Chemistry:
Dorfner offers mineral fillers for various construction chemical products such as fillers, coatings, leveling compounds, repair materials, fasteners, joint fillers, and sealants. These refined minerals improve the formulation and make processing easier, whether for paste-like mixtures or ready-to-mix products for on-site use.

Dorfner Solutions for the
building materials industry:
Dorfner’s raw materials, used as aggregates, are a fundamental component of modern concrete. Whether it’s liquid concrete, precast elements, or concrete-based paving stones, high-quality minerals from our own deposits play a literally foundational role in this crucial building material for the construction industry.
